Lawrence Tech Falls to Madonna 2-1 in First WHAC Loss of Season; Mather Scores Lone Goal

The Lawrence Technological University women's soccer team fell on Saturday night to Madonna University (Mich.) in a 2-1 decision for their first WHAC loss of the season. The Blue Devils now prepare to travel to another WHAC opponent, Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

Grabbing the lone goal in the loss was Katelyn Mather, who scored in the second only minutes after the Crusaders struck first in the 64th minute. Mather was assisted by Madison Bologna and DiOnna Hill.

The Crusaders (7-1,-1, 2-0-0) controlled most of the game, especially taking control in the second where they took 13 shots compared to the Blue Devils (5-4-0, 1-1-0) four. In net, Rebecca Almandoz had five saves on seven shots on goal, keeping the deficit to only one.

Up next, the Blue Devils face the Wolverines (1-4-0, 0-1-0) who are fresh off an overtime loss to Lourdes (Mich.) on Saturday, September 28th where they fell 5-4. Leading Dearborn is Jenna Rogers and Gabriella Teems who each have two goals and one assist.
