Struggles continue for Blue Devils as they can't capitalize in Overtime against Saints.

Box Score

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. The Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech continue to struggle in conference play this time falling to the Saints of Aquinas on Saturday afternoon inside the Don Ridler Field House to the tune of 74-81. In a subsequent four-way tie in the conference someone was going to go home unhappy and that happened to be the Blue Devils. With a late dagger by Carter Frantz to tie the game to force overtime, it looked as if the Blue Devils had everything going in their direction. But the steam would run out and once again this young Blue Devil squad was unable to close out the game.

The Blue Devils would go into halftime with the lead over this talented Saints squad that has had their fair shares of tough battles throughout the season up 31-26 it was looking promising. But as the second half got underway the Blue Devils would need everything they had in them to win this game and it was going to be an uphill battle. With some key plays on defense, the Blue Devils were able to get the ball back and make a play offensively to get Carter Frantz the ball. From there the sharpshooter did what he does best and hit the dagger game-tying three with 2.5 seconds left on the clock.

As the Don Ridler erupted in the stands there was still time for Aquinas to get the ball off one last time. They did just that but to no avail, it didn't fall and Coach Pickens and company to a sigh of relief. That quickly faded as overtime got underway and the Saints looked to take care of business this time. The Blue Devils shooting went ice cold across the board shooting 2-8 (25%) from the field and 1-6 (16.7%) from beyond the arc in Overtime. The Columbus, Ohio native Brandon Beavers scored all 7 points in overtime for the Blue Devils.

Overall the Blue Devils went 26-63 (41.3%) from the field while shooting 8-30 a dismal (26.7%) from beyond the arc and 14-17 (82.5%) from the charity stripe on the night. The Blue Devils were lead by Jordan Henry who had a team-high 24 points alongside 4 rebounds and 2 assist on the night. Meanwhile, Brandon Beavers ended the night with 15 points grabbing 6 boards and dropping 4 dimes to his team.

Looking ahead the Blue Devils hit the road for their next three contest with key road tests in the push for the playoffs against Concordia Ann-Arbor, UM-Dearborn, and Madonna. These next three games will set the tone for whether or not the Blue Devils can make the playoffs at the end of February.
