SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University women's basketball team has a rare two game road trip against WHAC opponents for the week of January 27th. The first match is against Concordia University Ann Arbor today, Wednesday, January 29th where the game is set to start at 6:00 PM. The next is at UM Dearborn on Saturday where tip off is set for 1:00 PM.
The Blue Devils (15-8, 9-4) are fresh of a narrow loss for current third place in the WHAC against Aquinas last Saturday where they fell 73-66. As seven games stand between LTU and placement in the post season, every game counts. The top four seeds host for the WHAC conference tournament.
So far, Kendall Fisher leads the team with staggering numbers. She is 13th in the NAIA for total assists at 107, 24th in total scoring at 371 and leads the team in steals with 44. She also averages 16.1 points per game. Also holding some strong numbers on the national level is Kaitlyn Smith who is 17th in the nation for three point percentage at 43% and total made threes at 56. Defensively, it has been a showdown from the hands of Rachel Price and Danielle Hanson. Hanson leads the team with 182 rebounds while price is ranked 28th in the NAIA for 34 blocks.
Concordia is 13-8 overall this season and 7-5 in the WHAC, including a recent 77-66 loss to Siena Heights and a overtime win against Madonna with a 81-72 final. Katie Snow ranks 7th in the NAIA for steals at 69th and their leading scorer is Tris'styn Williams.
Dearborn is 12-10 overall and 5-7 in the WHAC. They are fresh off a win versus Cornerstone where they dominated 69-41. The Wolverines are a defensive powerhouse with 109 blocks as a team, ranking third in the NAIA. They are led by the strength on Ro'Zhane Wells who leads the team in points per game at 12.41 and has 92 total assists.
