Southfield, Mich. – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team lost their home match to the Cardinals of Concordia Ann Arbor on Wednesday, October 14th. The Cardinals came to the Don Ridler Fieldhouse with a competitive mindset all match as they took care of the first two sets. The Blue Devils were able to win the third set as both teams battled in the fourth set, but Concordia was the winner in that set taking home the Victory. Concordia defeated Lawrence Tech in four sets in this match (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 26-24).
Leading the team in total attempts for the third straight game in a row was Senior Isabella McDonald with 60. McDonald also added a game high 22 kills for the match. Right behind her in total attempts for the match was Peyton Heady with 41. Freshman Nicole Whan led the Blue Devils with double digit assists with 26. Next to her in the assist category for LTU was Gneiss Aramburu with 17. Leading the team in digs for the game was Senior libero Shelby Rasch with 15 and two other Blue Devils who played well defensively were Nichole Hyduk and Alysha Vipushan. The leaders on the day for hit percentage was for the match were sophomore middle hitter Madeline Hudson with .273 and senior Isabella McDonald with .233. The team's attack even though LTU lost, their percentage improved consistently throughout the match in the first three sets (.118, .156, .350), and by the end of the match the team's total attacks were 160. Team total in kills were 49. The teams total in digs were 73 and the teams total in assist were 47.
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (1-2) next match will be Saturday, October 17th on the road against Concordia University of Ann Arbor inside Cardinal Arena. The match will begin at 1 PM.
