Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team lost their road match to the Cardinals of Concordia Ann Arbor on Saturday, October 17th. The Cardinals took care of home court as both teams competed at a high level. The Blue Devils dug themselves a hole by losing the first two matches, but were able to escape with a third set victory. The match ended in the fourth set as Concordia was able to take home the victory in the fourth set. Concordia defeated Lawrence Tech in four sets in this match (25-21, 25-19, 15-25, 25-19).
For the fourth straight game in a row Senior Isabella McDonald and Freshman Riley O'Connell were both on their A game as they were at the top of the leader board again in total amount of attempts for the match. Isabella with 51 and Riley with 56. O'Connell also added a game high 17 kills for the match. Another top leader in the kill category for the match for total kills was Isabella with 16. Freshman Setter, Nicole Whan led LTU with double digit assists for back-to-back games with 33! Leading the team in digs for the second straight game in a row was Senior veteran, Shelby Rasch with 23. Some other Blue Devils that took part in the game defensively were Nichole Hyduk and Alysha Vipushan again who were top three leaders for digs in the game. The leaders on the day for hit percentage for the match were Isabella McDonald (.235), defensive specialist Nicole Hyduk (.167) and Freshman middle hitter Madison Morris (.154). The team's kills per set were (11, 10, 4, 8), and by the end of the match the team's total kills were 43. The team ended the match with 9.0 total blocks. The teams total in digs were 92 and finished the match with 40 assists.
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (1-3) next match will be Saturday, October 24th on the road against conference opponent Indiana Tech University inside the Schaefer Center on Kline Court.
