SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Tech Women's Soccer program hit the pitch for game two of the two-game homestead on Tuesday, October 20th. The Blue Devils ended the night with a 1-1 tie over Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Cornerstone University. It marks the first time that the Golden Eagles and the Blue Devils had faced each other since last season when the Blue Devils knocked off the Golden Eagles in the WHAC playoffs.
Overall the Blue Devils came out firing on all cylinders in the first half; just 0:56 seconds into the game, Rebekah Holbrook found the back of the off the assist from Jenny Dear to make it 1-0. Cornerstone would answer back with a goal of their own at the 21:23 mark of the first half to make it 1-1.
These would be the only two goals that took place the entire game as a defensive battle ensued between both teams. Overall the Blue Devils took ten shots in the match while Cornerstone countered with 18 shots for the evening. Lawrence Tech had ten saves on the evening compared to the four saves that Cornerstone had. It was an 8-6 differential on corner kicks in favor of Cornerstone.
Looking ahead, the Blue Devils take on the Warriors of Rochester University on Saturday, October 24th, at 7:30 pm at Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, Michigan.
