SOUTHFIELD- A bicycle kick by Kean Lam with 7:56 left in double-overtime was all the men's soccer program needed to upend the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon inside Blue Devils Stadium.
The Blue Devils (5-2) scored first in the contest with a goal off a Reece Still assist to Kean Lam to make it 1-0 at the 21:26 mark of the first half. It wouldn't be until the 83rd minute that the Blue Devils backline gave up an easy goal to Concordia to make it 1-1. Knotted up at 1-1 apiece, the Cardinals and the Blue Devils headed to overtime.
With the first 10 minutes becoming a defensive battle and a miscue from Concordia to end the game, the Blue Devils and Concordia headed to double-overtime. From there, the Blue Devils found a way to finish the game with Kean Lam scoring a bicycle kick at the 7:56 mark of double-overtime to put the nail in the game. The Blue Devils upended the Cardinals 2-1 to move to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Overall, Riley Alexander allowed 1 goal off of 4 shots and 3 saves, while on offense, the Blue Devils took 3 corner shots to the 6 that the Cardinals took. The Blue Devils earned 3 yellow cards this afternoon, with the cards being issued to Kean Lam, Riley Alexander, and Alex Braesker.
