Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils made quick work of the Comets of Olivet College on Monday night inside the Don Ridler Field House with a 3-0 sweep. The Blue Devils coming off a 3-1 victory over the Eagles of Robert Morris (IL) this past Saturday afternoon makes it back to back wins for the team.
This marks the third win of the season for the Blue Devils who have a tough matchup on Wednesday evening in Grand Rapids, Michigan, against the Saints of Aquinas College. It is the first time this season that the Blue Devils have had back to back wins on the year.
Overall the Blue Devils played lights out on the night in the first set the Blue Devils had 14 kills with a .400 percentage going 15-21 on sideouts. In the second set, the Blue Devils would have 15 kills with a .448 percentage going 12-19 on sideouts. The final set the Blue Devils had 16 kills with nine errors for a .163 percentage going 22-30. Overall the Blue Devils went 49-70 on sideouts, hitting 69% on the night.
The Blue Devils would take set one 25-20, in the second set, it looked as if the Blue Devils were rolling on all cylinders winning 25-19. It wasn't until the third set that saw the Blue Devils with their back against the wall a little. With the third set going back and forth and the Comets going on a series of rallies, it was going to take all it could for the Blue Devils to pull out the sweep. The Blue Devils were able to get it done, winning 31-29 in the final set.
Overall the Blue Devils were led by the Austin Cinci with 14.5 pts 12 kills and one error on the night. Other Blue Devils to make an impact were Patrick Newell with 11.5 pts, seven kills, and three errors. Max Jewett made an impact with 12.5 pts and 12 kills. Joshua Eckert had 12 pts, and ten kills on six errors.
