A late offensive blitz ensues as Blue Devils fall to Warriors

Box Score

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.-  The Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech looked to bounce back and grab a win against the Warriors of Indiana Tech for the first time in program history. Despite a back and forth first half that saw the Blue Devils go into the locker room down 16-21, it looked promising early on for a win.

However, that wasn't the case as the Blue Devils would go cold after cutting the lead down to five in the second half giving the Warriors a 22-32 advantage with 13:54 left. Then the Blue Devils would go on a run themselves with the Warriors going cold shortly, cutting the game to within five again down 27-32. It would be a five-point game for most of the second half until the 8:09 mark before a three-pointer by sophomore Isaiah Cumberlands would cut the lead to four points. The Warriors wouldn't look back from there going on a run the rest of the game pushing the lead from four to twelve in the last 6:00 minutes.

Overall the Blue Devils went 16-59 (27.1%) from the field, 6-31 (19.4%) from downtown and 3-5 (60%) from the charity line. A team that prides themselves in their long game wasn't able to put it together tonight. The Blue Devils bench, which has been relatively productive over the course of the season, was non-existent tonight with only nine points coming from sophomore Jordan Henry. A tough night for the starting five who saw only one starter in double digits in freshman big man Gunnar Gustafson with 10 points respectively. Fellow starter sophomore Carter Frantz had eight points on the night.

Looking to Saturday afternoon, the Blue Devils will play at home for the final time this season inside the Don Ridler Field house with tip-off slated for 3 pm. With this season not having any seniors on the team, the Blue Devils will be celebrating the parents of the team. A celebration will take place after the conclusion of the game.
