SIOUX CITY, IA- The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Women's Basketball team made the trip to the NAIA Division II National Tournament this year as the seventh seed. The Blue Devils were scheduled to take on the Bobcats of the College of the Ozarks (MO.) this afternoon at 3:30 PM CDT inside the Tyson Events Center. But due to precautionary measures and the recent outbreak of the COVID 19 virus in the United States, all winter championships have been canceled effective immediately by the NAIA.
With this news, the Blue Devils ended their season at 21-12. They made it to the WHAC tournament championship this season, grabbing the second auto bid for the conference we want to thank our seniors who have led this program across the board and made an impact across the board. This senior class ends their careers with 86 wins and 42 losses overall and two national tournament appearances the most in program history.
The Blue Devils were led by four seniors this year. The East Lansing, Michigan native Danielle Hanson ends her career as a Blue Devil with 1,115 Career Points, 698 rebounds, 131 assists. Danielle ends her career ranking 25th in Division two in total rebounds with 276, 45th in division two in total rebounds per game with 8.3, and 46th in division two in defensive rebounds per game at 5.7.
The Dorr, Michigan native Hope Dollarhide ends her career as a Blue Devil with 426 career points, 316 total rebounds, and 54 assists. Up next is the Springboro, Ohio native Rachel Price, who ends her career with 465 career points, 535 rebounds, and 161 total blocks. Rachel ranks 29th in division two in total blocks with 47 and also ranks 38th in division two in blocks per game with 1.42.
Our final senior is Kaitlyn Smith, the Holy, Michigan native who ends her career with 976 career points, 300 rebounds, 137 assists, and 68 steals. She also ranks 5th in division two in three-point field goal percentage at 44%, 10th in division two in three-point field goals made with 88, and 22nd in division two in three-point field goal per game with 2.66.
