Men's Basketball takes the win over Aquinas 67-59

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The men's basketball program grabbed a decisive win in WHAC conference play on Wednesday night inside the Don Ridler Field House. This was the first time the men's program had competed on the court in over 60 days, this in part to COVID related issues on campus and new mandates by the State in its return to play protocol.

The Blue Devils took some time to shake off the rust that had collected during the time off as Aquinas came out to a roaring 8-0 run before the Blue Devils finally hit a basket. The Blue Devils would end the half down 22-28. It took the Blue Devils a little bit of time to get warmed up in the second half they struggled to get going until around the 14:16 mark when they cut the lead down to 12.

A series of miscues on the offensive side of the ball for the Saints allowed the Blue Devils to rally back and break the lead. The Blue Devils cut the lead down to 5 before a series of missed shots by the Blue Devils allowed the Saints to push the lead 7. Defensive stops for the Blue Devils alongside a series of missed shots for the Saints gave the team the push they needed to take the lead. Once the Blue Devils took the lead, they never looked back, taking the win in a highly contested battle.

The Blue Devils went 23-54 from the floor, shooting 42.6% on the evening; they went 8-22 from beyond the arc, shooting 36.4%, 13-22 from the charity stripe shooting 59.1%. The Blue Devils look ahead as they will take on Rochester University's Warriors on Saturday afternoon. Game time is slated for a 3:30 tip-off inside Garth Pleasant Arena.
