Box Score Lockport NY – The Lawrence Technological University ACHA D1 men's ice hockey team followed up a 5-2 win in their season opener on Friday night with a 4-3 shootout win on Saturday night over the Niagara University Purple Eagles.
How it Happened:
First Period:
- Scoreless first period
- Purple Eagles record nine shots
- Blue Devils register 11 shots
Second Period:
- Ethan Grover opens the scoring 58 seconds into the period, assisted by Jordon Woytas and Jacob Stawinski
- Stawinski doubles the LTU lead with a goal of his own from John Horn and Alec Allen
- LTU heads to intermission up 2-0, but Niagara outshooting LTU 29-24
Third Period
- Purple Eagles cut the deficit in half with a tally at the 17:19 mark
- Blue Devils extend the margin back to two with PP goal from Woytas, assisted by Cole Therrian and Garrett Sample
- Niagara responds a little more than a minute later to cut the deficit to 3-2
- Less than two minutes later, Purple Eagles tie the game at 3-3.
Overtime/Shootout
- Purple Eagles outshot Blue Devils 6-3 in OT but game remains scoreless
- Woytas scores in the shootout to give LTU the 4-3 win
