Clinched! Late Goals Deliver Blue Devils' WHAC Tournament Berth

Box Score

Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils women's soccer team (5-7-3; 2-4-2) took on the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles (5-7-1; 2-6) in a clash between two teams on the bubble for WHAC Tournament play.

In the first 10 minutes, each team recorded two shots, but only LTU was able to get one on goal.

In the 14th minute, Madison Radcliffe's corner kick led to Kylie Adams' fifth goal of her season to give Cornerstone the early 1-0 lead.

Over the next 20 minutes, the Blue Devils got aggressive, taking eight shots, two of which were on target, but to no avail.

The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the half, despite being outshot 11-4 (3-1 on goal).

At the beginning of the second half, the Golden Eagles picked up the pace offensively, attempting as many shots in the first six minutes of the half as they shot in the whole first half, with four.

Into the 76th minute, the Blue Devils felt a sense of urgency, leading to four shots on goal off a corner kick, the last of which reached the net.

Cassidy Wiest scored her first goal as a Blue Devil, off a Jaiden Konrad rebound – her second assist of the season – to tie the game at one apiece.

Not long after, a Courtney Matheson header off a corner kick was followed up by Konrad, as she scored her fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead down the stretch.

Lawrence Tech kept the ball in the offensive zone, making sure Cornerstone did not get another opportunity.

Sydney Schnurstein (4-1) came on in relief at halftime, recording two saves in the victory.

With this win, the Blue Devils have clinched a berth in the WHAC women's soccer tournament. Their opponent is still to be determined, as they look to improve their seeding this weekend.

The Blue Devils (6-7-3; 3-4-2) close out their regular season at home this Saturday, October 30 at 4 pm where they face Indiana Tech (9-8; 5-5) for Senior Day.
