Box Score Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils battled 13th-ranked Aquinas College at home on Wednesday night.
Early on, the Saints were in attack mode, starting the game off with a couple of shots and two corner kicks.
The second corner kick, by Hannah Crum, led to the opening goal--a header by Merrin McDermott, in the sixth minute.
As the first half continued, the Blue Devils could not get any offense started, as the ball spent most of the time in their defensive zone.
Another corner in the 31st minute set up Sandra Segovia for her first goal of the year, giving Aquinas a 2-0 lead going into the half.
Aquinas outshot LTU 14-1 overall and 5-1 on goal in the first half.
In the second half, Aquinas kept the ball in its offensive zone, taking 17 shots, but none found the back of the net.
Lawrence Tech was able to tack on a late goal in the 81st minute when DiOnna Hill scored on a header in the box for her team-leading fifth goal of the year.
Sydney Schnurstein played the first half in net, recording 4 saves.
Renee Anderson had a scoreless second half in relief, recording 6 saves.
