Box Score Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Lawrence Technological University football team overcame an early 14-0 deficit to defeat the University of St. Francis (Ind.) 31-28 on Saturday afternoon.
First Half
- After an opening drive interception by Tyler Kulka, the Cougars took advantage of the short field with an 8-yd TD pass to go up 7-0
- LTU fumbled on their next possession and on the next play, a 22-yd TD strike put USF up 14-0 in a hurry
- The Blue Devils responded on the next drive with a 13-play, 70-yd drive that took 6:50 off the clock and was capped off by a Kulka 1-yd plunge to make it 14-6 at the 4:48 mark of the first
- LTU's defense forced a punt on the next possession and another long drive, this one 8-plays, 88-yds, culminated in a 17-yd TD reception by Kendyl Williams
- After another forced punt by the LTU defense, the offense wasted little time as Kulka found Jalen Wallace on the second play of the drive for a 64-yd strike to take the lead, 20-14, at the 11:16 mark of the second quarter
- The rest of the first half would remain scoreless as LTU led 20-14 at halftime
Second Half:
- On the opening series of the third quarter, USF went for it on 4th-and-3 from the LTU 4 and converted on a 4-yd pass to retake the lead 21-20
- The Blue Devils responded right away, as a 27-yd pass to CJ Thompson put LTU at the USF 11. Three plays later, Ben Brittain ran it in from six yards out to put LTU ahead 28-21 after a successful 2-pt conversion.
- LTU extend the margin to 10 with a 29-yard field goal by Jonathan Swisher on the next drive as the game headed to the fourth quarter
- The Cougars pulled with three, 31-28, on a 25-yd TD reception with 3:33 left in the ballgame, but LTU ran out the clock to close out the road win
