Box Score Farmington Hills, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University ACHA D1 men's hockey team used a three-goal second period to cruise past the Cleary University Cougars 6-2 on Saturday evening to sweep the weekend series.
How It Happened:
- Early in the first period, Blake Heier scored less than two minutes in to give LTU a 1-0 lead
- LTU scored early in the stanza again as Sean Pilet made it 2-0, 1:46 into the second
- Cleary cut the margin in half at the 9:33 mark of the period
- A little over two minutes later, James Jentz pushed the lead back to two, 3-1, via a power play goal off an assist from Jacob Stawinski
- Cole Therrian added a backbreaker with 17 seconds before the intermission as LTU held a 4-1 advantage after 40 minutes of play
- John Horn stretched the margin to four on the power play, 6:17 into the third, before Cleary added a power play goal of their own five minutes later
- Therrian netted his second of the game with less than two minutes remaining off helpers from Patrick McGowan and Jack Lebar
