Box Score Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils women's basketball team hosted the Lancers of Grace College on the second day of the Blue Devil Classic, falling 75-60.
Kendall Fisher led all scorers with 22 points, along with a game-high seven assists. Karlee Feldman led the Lancers with 21 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Early on, neither team could get much going, as just three points – a Jade Faris layup and a Gracie Mitchell free throw – were scored in the first five minutes of play.
A Julia Huey jumper and Fisher layup sandwiched a Peyton Murphy free throw, and the score got to 7-1 LTU with 3:44 to play in the first.
Then the Blue Devils went on a 10-1 run before the Lancers finally made their first field goal attempt with 23 seconds left in the quarter.
After one, LTU lead 17-4.
The second quarter was much different for the Lancers, as they were able to put up a bucket in the first two minutes with a Feldman layup.
The Lancers went on an 11-0 run to take a 22-21 lead.
This lit a fire under the Blue Devils as they stormed back with seven straight of their own to reclaim the lead and extend it to six.
A couple of free throws later, followed by a shot clock violation by LTU, and two more free throws, Grace was within two.
Kaylee Patton's free throw, a Karissa Lukasiewicz jumper, and Patton's trey gave Grace a 6-0 spurt to give them the lead in the waning moments of the first half.
Kirstyn Lunniss' layup returned the lead to the Blue Devils before Maddie Ryman tied it back up for Grace with a free throw.
Fisher made a layup with four seconds left to give LTU the 35-33 lead entering the half.
Kiersten Poor's triple gave the Lancers a 36-35 lead before Julia Huey, fresh off a seven three-pointer performance on Saturday, answered back with a three of her own to reclaim the lead for Blue Devils.
A Mitchell layup extended that lead to four.
Patton and Feldman erased that lead a minute and a half later, evening the score at 40-40.
At the six-minute mark, the Lancers took the lead on a Feldman layup.
Maggie Long hit a three to give Lawrence Tech a shortly-lived one-point lead.
Grace took back the lead on the next possession with a Feldman layup, a lead that the Lancers would not relinquish.
The Lancers used this basket to propel them to a 12-2 run over the final 4:43 of the period to take a 54-45 lead into the fourth.
The first 90 seconds of the fourth led to four consecutive possessions with a basket.
After a missed Feldman layup, Faris cut the deficit to six with a layup.
Grace then went on a 9-0 run by forcing turnovers and capitalizing on those mistakes as the Lancers stretched the lead to 67-52.
The Blue Devils would try to claw back in but to no avail as Grace held on for the 75-60 victory.
The Blue Devils (1-4) return to action on Wednesday, November 10th at 5:30 pm when they open up WHAC play against Concordia inside Don Ridler Field House.
