SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- Men's basketball looked to bounce back Sunday after a loss on the road Saturday. The Blue Devils, who had an 11 pt lead in the first quarter, went into halftime up 6 pts. However, both teams had a different story in the second half, with Rochester outscoring the Blue Devils 37-24. The result was a late push by Rochester to keep the Blue Devils at bay to win 75-68.
Brandon Beavers, who had been out for a couple of weeks and returned Saturday, had a bounce-back game leading the Blue Devils in scoring with 22 pts Sunday afternoon. Carter Frantz had 21 pts, Gunnar Gustafson had 11 pts, Alek Ivanovic had 8 pts, and Tyler Balon had 6 pts. Overall, the Blue Devils had 10 turnovers, 3 blocks, 3 steals, 18 assists, and 36 rebounds. The Blue Devils shot 43.3% from the field, 41.9% from beyond the arc, and 100% at the charity stripe Sunday.
Looking forward, the Blue Devils hit a grueling week of games. Their first stop is a trip to Aquinas for a rematch of the Saints from January 27th on Wednesday night. From there, the Blue Devils make it back-to-back nights with a reschedule against Lourdes on Thursday night. Lastly, the Blue Devils hit the road Saturday afternoon to Madonna to finish out the week.
