SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- Men's basketball hit the hardwood Monday night, looking to bounce back from Friday's loss at Lourdes while also looking to solidify their spot in the playoffs. However, that wasn't the case Monday inside the Don Ridler Field House, with the Blue Devils falling 62-80.
A slow start by both teams to get the ball to fall early looked like we would be in for a long night of basketball. It turned out not to be the case with Cornerstone heading into halftime up 43-31 to the Blue Devils. A better second half of shooting for the Blue Devils wasn't enough to get past Cornertone's stifling defense, who had 12 blocks tonight.
The Blue Devils had 3 double-digit scorers tonight, with Brandon Beavers, Gunnar Gustafson, and Sanna Sisawo all having 10 pts on the night. Other scorers for the Blue Devils are Carter Frantz with 8 pts, Tyler Balon with 6 pts, Alek Ivanovic with 5 pts, Arthur Asberry with 5 pts, 4 pts for Logan Daniher, and 3 pts for Joshua Perkins. Overall, the Blue Devils went 24-64 from the field, shooting 37.5%, shooting 9-28 from beyond the arc on 32.1% shooting, and 5-13 from the charity stripe shooting 38.5%. The Blue Devils had 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 7 steals, 3 blocks, 13 turnovers on Monday.
Looking ahead, the Blue Devils wrap up conference play for the regular season on Tuesday night, taking on UNOH, tip-offs slated for 7 pm inside the Don Ridler Field House.
