Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team is coming off a nice win earlier this week against Lourdes. In that match, they seemed to have found their identity as a team and looked to build off that win on Tuesday, February 23. Unfortunately, it just wasn't their night offensively for the Blue Devils who played the Saints of Aquinas (9-1) who are sitting at 2nd in the conference standings right now and receiving votes nationally. Aquinas jumped out to an early lead winning the first two sets 25-18, 25-17. LTU was not going down easy in this one, if anything they showed that they will continue to battle and fight through anything as they were able to steal a game back in the third set winning 25-16. In the fourth and final set of the match the Saints finished the match beating LTU 25-22. That now brings the team's record to 2-6 overall (2-6 WHAC) which brings LTU 7th in the rankings for the WHAC standings in conference.
Leading the team in total kills was Jessica Lodge for the second straight game in a row with 15, and Isabella McDonald also added 14 kills. LTU's leader in hitting percentage for the match was Sophomore Marriya Henry with a percentage of .417. McDonald was second in the teams hitting percentage finishing with .229 on Tuesday night. Nicole Whan and Gneiss Aramburu at this point are considered dynamic duo in dropping dimes as they both led the Blue Devils again adding double digit assists with 19 & 15. Leading the Blue Devils in digs for the match was Nichole Hyduk with 21 as she was all of the court tonight playing great defense for the team, and two other Blue Devils who played well defensively were Jessica Lodge and Shelby Rasch. The leaders on the night for the Blue Devils in total points were Jessica Lodge with 18 total points and Isabella McDonald with 14 total points. By the end of the match the team's total attacks were 161. Team total in kills were 49 and the team's total assists were 43.
