Southfield, MI – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team was coming off a solid win in their previous match, but on Sunday, February 28th the team had some flaws in their match against Madonna University at home as they lost 3-1. LTU started off strong winning the first set with a score of 25-17. Madonna then dominated for the rest of the match winning the next three sets in a row. The final scores for the next three sets were 23-25, 20-25, 13-25.
Leading the team in total kills for LTU was Riley O'Connell with 16, and Jessica Lodge was also able to add 12 kills. LTU's leader in kill percentage for the match was Shelby Rasch with a perfect percentage of 1.000. Isabella McDonald also with a solid kill percentage of .300. The third leader for kill percentage on the evening was Madeline Hudson with .286. Defensively, Nichole Hyduk controlled the game for the Blue Devils in this one with 27 digs and Shelby Rasch was able to log 12 digs of her own on the evening. A couple lady Blue Devils who set up their teammates with some nice assists on the night were Gneiss Aramburu with 24 total assists, and Hyduk provided the team with 21 total assists. The leaders on the night for the Blue Devils in total points were Rasch with 17.0 total points and Lodge with 12.0 total points. By the end of the match the team's total attacks were 191. Team total in kills were 53 and the team's total assists were 53. Even though LTU lost, they still made some improvements statistically from their previous match which is a good sign moving into next week's competition.
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (4-6 overall, 4-6 WHAC) start a three game home skid starting next week where their next match will be Thursday, March 4th at home as the team will face off against Siena Heights University inside the Don Ridler Fieldhouse.
