Southfield, MI – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team went all the way into the fourth set before they were able to cap off the victory against Siena Heights University on Thursday night 3-1. Both teams in this one were evenly matched as they battled back and forth all night. Siena Heights came in with a record of 5-2, but LTU was still able to pull off the victory, extending their record to 4-7 overall. The final scores for each set in this one were 26-24, 17-25, 22-25, 14-25. The Blue Devils lost the first set, but connected as a team in the next three sets as they won all three to seal the victory.
Leading the team in total kills was Jessica Lodge with 12, and Isabella McDonald and Riley O'Connell both logged 10 kills on the night together. LTU's leader in kill percentage for the match was Madeline Hudson with a very solid percentage of .318. Marriya Henry was second in the teams kill percentage in this match finishing with .250 on the night. Defensively, Nichole Hyduk was spectacular on the night with 22 digs for her team making tough plays consistently throughout the match. Once again for the third straight game in a row Nicole Whan, and Gneiss Aramburu came up big making big time plays when the team needed it most, finishing the game with double digit assist against. Whan finished with 15 and Aramburu finished with 25. The leaders on the night for the Blue Devils in total points were O'Connell with 18.0 points and Lodge with 17.0 total points. By the end of the match the team's total attacks were 148. Team total in kills were 43 and the team's total assists were 41. All three of the statistics were improvements from the last match, which seems to be the team is headed in the right direction going into their next match.
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (4-7 overall, 4-7 WHAC) next match will be Tuesday, March 9th at home as the team will face off against University of Northwestern Ohio inside the Don Ridler Fieldhouse.
