BASEBALL DROPS PAIR AGAINST AQUINAS

DETROIT, Mich.- The baseball team headed back to Detroit, Michigan, looking to grab two more games against Aquinas, coming off the thrilling 4-3 win of game 2 the day before. However, Aquinas had different plans taking both games Monday evening in Detroit. Game 1, the final was 8-3, game 2's final was 3-1.

Game 1 |

Game one of Monday's doubleheaders against Aquinas saw the Blue Devils have Ben Schmidt on the bump while Travis Keys was hurling for the Saints. Schmidt went one inning on Monday, giving up 3 hits, 7 runs, 3 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Harry Storch came in for 3 innings, grabbing 2 strikeouts. Nick Olsen came in for an inning, giving up 1 hit, 1 run, 1 earned, 3 walks, and grabbing a strikeout. Jacob Pershern came in for a lone inning, giving up a hit and grabbing 1 strikeout.  In all, the Blue Devils bullpen gave up 5 hits, 8 runs, 4 earned, 7 walks, and garnered 6 strikeouts.

Sean Fannon blasted one out of the park for his first on the season. Trevor Miller grabbed his first career triple as a Blue Devil. Meanwhile, Sean DeKuiper, Jacob Llaneza, and Sean Fannon all grabbed RBI's in the game.

Game 2 |

Game two was a different story for both teams after the onslaught of runs in game 1 by the Saints, a pitching duel set in for game two.

Jeremey Flattery got the start for game two for the Blue Devils, pitching 3 innings giving up a hit and 3 walks with a lone strikeout. Dominic Puccetti came in relief for the Blue Devils pitching 2 innings giving up a hit, 2 runs, 2earned, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jacob Pershern was the other Blue Devil to touch the mound giving up 2 hits, 1 run, 1 earned, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. On the day the Blue Devils bullpen gave up 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned, 7 walks, and 7 strikeouts.

Eddie Dopkowski was the lone RBI for the Blue Devils in game 2 Monday. The Blue Devils did have 3 stolen bases on Monday as well. Those came from Eddie Dopkowski, Sean Fannon, and Collin Vandergroden.

Looking ahead, the Blue Devils head to Adrian, Michigan to take on Siena Heights Thursday, March 11th first pitch is set for 2 pm.
