Southfield, MI – The Lawrence Tech Women's Volleyball team came ready to play as they were able to clean sweep the University of Northwestern Ohio 3-0. From the very first set which finished with a final 25-22, the Blue Devils had the momentum all night. UNOH just could not counter to LTU's offense in this one. The next two sets were awarded to LTU by scores of 25-12, 25-16. This now moves the team to a overall record of 5-7 and gives the team a two game winning streak. The women will look to extend their winning streak moving into the weekend.
Leading the team in total kills was Isabella McDonald with 13 as she was hot all night connecting with the ball, and Jessica Lodge recorded 10 kills on the night as well. LTU's leader in kill percentage for the match was McDonald with a stellar percentage of .545 connecting on over half of her hits. Marriya Henry was second in team kill percentage in this match finishing with another great performance with a final percentage of .500. Defensively, once again Nichole Hyduk was spectacular on the night with 14 digs for her team making tough plays consistently all night, giving them a lot of momentum throughout the match. Once again for the fourth straight game in a row Nicole Whan, and Gneiss Aramburu provided the team with many nice assists as they both were able to log themselves double digit assists with 16 and 17. The team fed off their energy offensively all night which was huge for LTU. The leaders on the night for the Blue Devils in total points were Isabella with 13.5 points, Riley O'Connell with 10.5 total points and Jessica Lodge with 10.0 points. By the end of the match the team's total attacks were 93. Team total in kills were 38 and the team's total assists were 35.
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (5-7) next match will be Saturday, March 13th at home where the team will compete against the top team in the conference, (RV, 15-1) Aquinas College inside the Don Ridler Fieldhouse.
