Box Score 2 ROCKFORD, Mich.- Baseball hit I-96 on Tuesday afternoon, heading to the West End to take on Aquinas at the West Michigan Sports Park for a conference double-header. The result was a split on the afternoon, with Aquinas taking game one 5-0 and Lawrence Tech taking game two 6-4.
Game One |
The freshman Dominic Puccetti got the nod on the bump to start game one going 3 innings, giving up 2 hits, 2 runs, 0 earned, and 2 walks while also grabbing 3 strikeouts. Alek Wietrzykowski came in the game in relief, going 2 innings, and had a clean sheet in those 2 innings. Jeremy Flattery came in for an inning, giving up 1 hit and 1 run while striking out one batter. Sam DeKuiper came in to close out the game for 2 innings giving up 2 runs, 2 earned, and 4 walks. The Blue Devils bullpen gave up 3 hits, on 5 runs, 2 earned, 6 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Defensively the Blue Devils had 3 errors on the afternoon, while offensively, the Blue Devils had 3 hits, 2 walks, 16 strikeouts, and left 5 batters on base in 30 at-bats.

Jay Gallant grabbed the start in game two for the Blue Devils that saw him go 3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned, 2 walks, and 1 home run. Gallant did get a strikeout in his 3 innings of work. Ben Schmidt came into the game in relief, going 2 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, and a home run while also getting 2 strikeouts. Harry Storch came in for a ½ inning, giving up a walk. Kent Madak came in for 2 innings giving up a hit, 2 walks and striking out 1. Jacob Llaneza came in relief, looking to get the save for the Blue Devils. In 1 1/3 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 1.
Altogether, the pitching staff gave up 8 hits on 4 runs, 2 earned, 6 walks, 5 strikeouts, and 2 home runs. Defensively Jason Erhardt accounted for 2 errors in game two.
