BASEBALL UPSETS SAGINAW VALLEY AT COMERICA PARK

DETROIT, Mich.- Baseball hit the M-10 freeway to Detroit, Michigan, to take on the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley in Comerica Park. The result was an upset win over the Cardinals 5-4 in front of a sold-out crowd in Comerica Park.

Ben Schmidt, the Northville, Michigan native, collected the win for the Blue Devils after throwing 9 different pitchers on the night. In total, the Blue Devils gave up 4 runs on 6 hits and had 1 error for the evening. Jacob Llaneza collects the save for the Blue Devils.

Lawrence Tech was on the board first, scoring a run in the first inning off 3 hits; from there, they would go scoreless until an onslaught of runs in the top of the third inning, making it 4-2. The Blue Devils would go back and forth with the Cardinals until the bottom of the 7th inning, giving up a run alongside the 8th inning. The Blue Devils would also score against the Cardinals in the top of the 8th inning. The ninth inning was scoreless for both teams.

Looking ahead, the Blue Devils will get ready for two premieres WHAC opponents in Concordia Ann Arbor and Madonna for the two-weekend series. The Blue Devils will face off against Concordia in Ann Arbor on Saturday at 1 pm for a double-header. They will then turn around for another double-header on Sunday against Madonna at Illitich Ballpark at 1 pm.
