Box Score Southfield, MI – The Lawrence Technological University football team returned home after a bye week and overcame a halftime deficit to defeat St. Ambrose University 29-24 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Highlights
- After an 82-yard opening kickoff return by Christian Broaden, Tyler Kulka found Kendyl Williams for a 10-yard TD pass
- The Bees answered with a 68-yard TD score on the following possession
- St. Ambrose took the lead with 5:19 left until halftime on a 28-yard TD strike
- The Blue Devils turned it over with a fumble on the following possession but the defense held the Bees to a field goal
- Lawrence Tech responded quickly with a three-play drive that culminated with Kulka finding Jaden Rembert on a post route for a 58-yard TD score to make it just a three-point deficit, 17-14 at the half
Second Half
- After a nearly scoreless third quarter, Broaden picked off the Bees quarterback at their own 30-yard line, and on the next play, Kulka found a wide-open CJ Thompson running up the seam for a 21-yard score
- Early in the fourth, the Bees turned it over and three plays later a scrambling Kulka found Williams for a 4-yard TD Pass to put LTU ahead 29-17
- Following another St. Ambrose turnover, the Bees made a change at quarterback and it paid off as a 54-yard scamper down the sideline by the backup quarterback made it a five-point game with 5:36 remaining
- St. Ambrose was driving at the LTU 35 with 1:42 left in the game but Jon Williams shut the door with the Blue Devils third interception of the day to close out the win
