Wildcats Stun Blue Devils 2-1

Box Score

Southfield, MI - The Lawrence Technological University women's soccer team hosted the tenth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats at Blue Devil Stadium.

Early on, Indiana Wesleyan had many opportunities in their offensive zone, but could not capitalize.

The Blue Devils did their part defensively, to keep the game scoreless, as they did not have many opportunities in the first half.

With seconds left before the end of the first half, Laura Silverman's free kick from 55 yards out was booted on target near the goal, where it bounced over the goalie for her first goal of the season. Blue Devils go into halftime up 1-0.

In the second half, the Wildcats once again dominated possession. The Wildcats took twelve shots and eight corner kicks in the second half, where the Blue Devils had neither in the same time frame.

As Indiana Wesleyan kept attacking, Lawrence Tech kept kicking the ball out of bounds to ruin any momentum they were gaining. Then the 84th minute happened.

A cross from Mallory Krueger to Sydney Brown to set Sarah Foulk up for an assist back to Brown for the game-tying goal, her third, at 1.

In the 87th minute, the Wildcats' eighth corner kick resulted in the backbreaker for the Blue Devils, as Lauren Turner headed in Mallory Krueger's corner to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game at 2-1.

The Blue Devils (3-3-1) will get a chance to avenge this loss on Saturday, September 25 at 4 pm at Blue Devil Stadium against the University of Northwest Ohio Racers, to begin their conference schedule.
