Box Score Sylvania, OH - The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball traveled down to Ohio to play against the second team in the conference in Lourdes University. After a slow start to the second half, LTU could not crawl back as the Gray Wolves would come out on top by a final score of 68-41.
Gunnar Gustafson recorded a double-double for the Blue Devils with 13 points and 10 boards. Alek Ivanovic would add 11 points. Little Anderson lead all scoring with 18 points for Lourdes and McRay White scored 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Gustafson's layup and Carter Frantz's turnaround jump shot started things off for LTU.
Minutes later, Frantz found an open Ivanovic to knock down a three making it 9-6.
Lourdes would take the lead 12-11 from a Joey Holifield layup with 13:15 left that forced LTU to call a 30-second timeout.
The Blue Devils did not score for the next three minutes of action.
At the 8:57 mark in the first half, Isaiah Cumberland's aggressive And-1 brought the team within three, 19-16.
Ivanovic knocked down his second triple of the game to put LTU back up two with 7:15 remaining.
After Ivanovic's three with just under five minutes to play, Lourdes went on an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 32-23.
The Blue Devils would enter the locker room down 32-24.
The team shot the ball 10-of-28 (35.7%) from the field, struggled from deep however, shooting the ball just 2-of-11 (18.2%) as they were also 2-of-5 (40%) from the line.
The Gray Wolves would jump out to an early 7-0 run to start the second half.
With 17:22 left, Rinn's bucket would make it 39-26 right before Coach Pickens called a timeout.
After the timeout, Lourdes went on another run of 13-3 to extend their lead to 15 points.
Gustafson's layup and Sanna Sisawo's three-ball with 13 minutes left cut the lead to single digits.
The shooting woes would continue for LTU when they only converted on two buckets in the next eight minutes of action from a Rinn layup and Frantz jump shot. Lourdes would lead 63-40.
The Blue Devils' last basket came when Arthur Asberry made one free throw.
LTU would fall to Lourdes by a final score of 68-41.
The team shot the ball 17-of-55 (30.9%) from the field, 4-of-24 (16.57) from three, and 3-of-9 (33.3%) from the line.
The Blue Devils' next matchup is Wednesday, January 26th when they play Rochester University on the road. This game will tip-off at 7:30 PM.
