Box Score Rochester, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball team was on the road Wednesday night against Rochester University. The Blue Devils struggled shooting the ball in the second half as they would go down by a final score of 79-54.
Brandon Beavers led all scorers with 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Isaiah Cumberland added 10 points and seven rebounds. Alek Ivanovic scored 10 points on the night along with five boards.
Back-to-back triples from Beavers and Cumberland opened things up for LTU.
Cumberland's layup made it 12-10 just five minutes into play.
The team went cold from the field in the next five minutes only scoring one bucket from a pair of free throws by Beavers.
At the 7:09 mark in the first half, Beavers found Gunnar Gustafson under the basket for a layup to bring LTU within one.
Andrew Kline's dunk put Rochester up by three with just over five minutes to play.
Another pair of free throws and a three-pointer from Beavers cut the teams' deficit back to one point with 2:58 remaining.
The Warriors would go on a mini 6-0 run extending their lead to 37-30 right before the half.
A Beavers' three stopped the Warriors' run as the Blue Devils would enter the half down 38-33.
The team shot the ball 11-of-24 (45.8%) from the field, 6-of-13 (46.2%) from deep, and 5-of-10 (50.0%) from the line.
Rochester would open up the second half on a 13-0 run expanding their lead to 51-33.
LTU only scored two points in the first 10 minutes of the second half that came from two free throws by Andrew Rinn.
With 10 minutes to go in the game, Ivanovic and Cumberland's layups brought the lead down to seventeen, 58-41.
Minutes later, the Blue Devils converted on three consecutive possessions cutting the lead to 13 points.
Diego Robinson and AJ Johnson made it 70-52 for the Warriors with 2:08 left.
The Blue Devils' final bucket came from a Beavers pull-up jumper.
LTU would fall to Rochester by a final of 79-54.
The team shot the ball 18-of-54 (33.3%) from the field, 7-of-23 (30.4%) from the three, and 11-of-16 (68.8%) from the line.
The next Blue Devils matchup is at home against the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, January 29th inside the Don Ridler Field House. This game will tip-off at 3 PM.
