Box Score LIVONIA, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University football team scored 38 unanswered points, including a 31-0 second half, on its way to a 38-10 win over Madonna University on Saturday afternoon.
First Half:
- After a nearly scoreless first quarter, MU kicked a 37-yd field goal with :05 seconds left to open the scoring.
- The Crusaders punched one in from 4-yards out to take a 10-0 advantage with 4:16 left until halftime.
- LTU responded with an 8-play, 57-yard drive as Tyler Kulka found Ben Meathe from 1-yard out, his first collegiate TD, to trim the deficit to 10-7 at the break.
Second Half:
- The Blue Devils' defense came up with a game-changing play on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter as Matt Plaga forced a fumble and Christian Broaden scooped and scored from 40 yards out to give LTU its first lead of the game, 14-7.
- After a MU 3 & Out, Kulka found Kendyl Williams for a 55-yard completion on first down. Two plays later, Kulka went back to Williams for a 2-yard pitch and catch to make it 21-10 less than four minutes into the third.
- LTU's defense forced a second straight 3 & Out and 7-plays later, Kulka went back to Williams for a 12-yd strike, 28-10, halfway through the third quarter.
- DeMarcus Bush picked off MU and returned it 66-yards to the MU 4 but LTU had to settle for a 33-yd Vincent Robison field goal to extend the differential 31-10 after three quarters.
- Kulka added an 11-yard TD rush in the fourth as the LTU defense shut out the Crusaders in the second half.
