Esports Valiant in Week of Many Successes

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological Blue Devils Esports team had all of their active teams compete this week. Here's a recap on how their week went:

Rocket League
Monday:  Ole Miss (NACE) W, forfeit
Thursday: Rochester (WHAC) L, 3-1
  • Josh was able to add 13 saves to his WHAC leading total
  • Ronnie was able to score all 3 of our goals this series including the game winner in game number 2
  • Played much closer than last time and look to build off of a good showing.
Overwatch
Win by forfeit - Tuesday & Thursday 4-0

League of Legends
Wednesday: Davenport (NACE) W, 2-0
  • The first game started slow, with Lawrence Tech playing around the bottom half of the map, working to get Anthony Gabrail (Wightborde) ahead.
  • While giving up the top side, the advantages LTU was able to create were too much for Davenport to overcome, and with some well played fights, Lawrence Tech won the first game of the best-of-three series
  • The second game started out the same as the first, with Lawrence Tech giving up resources on the top side to give Anthony Gabrail an advantage once more on the bottom side. Using Y. Daniel Lee (notsolonely) to spread Davenport's team thin, Lawrence Tech was able to generate a lead more quickly than the first game, cleanly closing out the series in two games.
  • MVP: The team's bot laner, Anthony Gabrail, ended the series with only one death, and the highest damage in both games (57,000 in game one and 27,000 in game two). He had a pivotal role in securing the 2-0 win.
  • The win moved the League team to a 5-1 record in GGLeagues.

Call of Duty: Vanguard
Wednesday: Ferris State Gold (NACE) W, 3-0
  • Veteran player Codi McPeek and new comer Cody Doran both showing off their skills to help LTU win the 1st map 250-136
  • In the 2nd map LTU won 6-4 with Jake Heyer and Michael Testani Jr. both showing off their Search and Destroy prowess, both clutching up key moments to help LTU secure their victory.
  • Map LTU won commandingly with all 4 players showing off their Berlin control knowledge.
  • LTU Cod is now 2-3 in their Fall 2022 season.
Smash Bros.
Thursday: OTC Smash White (NACE) W, 2-0
  • Nick Kaminski (VryGlitchy) single-handedly led the team to victory
    • The first round was a perfect 12-0 as VryGlitchy did not lose a single life!
    • Round 2 was a very dominant 10-0 with VryGlitchy only losing two stocks.
  • LTU Smash now sits 5-0 for this season.

Chess
Our chess players went 2-3-1 in NACE. Andrew Horvath (WordSmith) having a performance rating of 1638 and William Shall (nucleus124) having a performance rating of 1619. The two went head to head against each other during one of their matches and Will walked away with the win!
