LTU Takes Opening Set, Falls in Four to #7 Indiana Tech

Southfield, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's volleyball team took the first set against #7 Indiana Tech before the Warriors recovered to win the next three as the Blue Devils fell (25-19, 21-25, 9-25, 24-26) on Saturday afternoon inside the Don Ridler Field House.

First Set:

  • Zach Narkiewicz kill helps LTU get out to an early 6-1 lead
  • Simon Phillip finds JT McCarthy to make it 13-7 LTU
  • IIT cuts deficit to two at 15-13 LTU
  • Bartosz Rauch service ace pushes advantage back to five, 21-16
  • Back-to-back Warriors' attack errors close out the set for Blue Devils 25-19

Second Set:

  • McCarthy service ace trims margin to three, 10-7 IIT
  • A pair of Warriors' kills extends the lead to 16-9
  • IIT' errors get LTU within three at 23-20
  • Blue Devils survive one set point before Warriors' kill ends set 25-21

Third Set:

  • IIT races out to 12-4 advantage to force LTU timeout
  • Warriors lengthen lead to double digits at 20-6
  • Consecutive LTU' errors cap off 25-9 IIT set win

Fourth Set:

  • Felix Perez kill puts LTU ahead 8-7
  • Four straight points by the Warriors forces Blue Devils' timeout at 15-15
  • Jeffry Fuhrmann kill knots set back up at 21-21
  • LTU is forced to take a timeout at match point as IIT leads 24-22
  • Another Fuhrmann kill followed by a Warriors' attack error reties set at 24-24
  • After a Blue Devils' service error, Warriors close out the match with a block, 26-24
