Box Score 2 Sterlington, LA - The Lawrence Technological University baseball team competed in a double-header on Saturday against #3 Southeastern University and #10 LSU Shreveport University in the Cajun Collison Tournament. Game one against SU resulted in LTU leaving runners in scoring position late to fall by a score of 7-3. Game two was a pitching duel ending in a walk-off by the Pilots 3-2.
Game 1 - How It Happened: SU 7, LTU 3
- The Fire got the scoring going in the top of the first inning from a sacrifice RBI fly ball to right field to take the lead 1-0.
- The Blue Devils would answer back with an RBI single to center field by Harry Storch to score Nick Post.
- No runs were scored in the next two innings.
- With bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, Kellen Banaszewski came up to the plate delivering a 2-RBI double to bring home Luke Morrissette and Trent Matthews.
- LTU was up 3-1 after four.
- The Blue Devils would struggle defensively in the top of the fifth giving up six unanswered runs.
- SU scored off two singles, a double, and a wild pitch to give them a 7-3 cushion.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, LTU would go scoreless after leaving the bases loaded.
- The team would leave two men on base in the seventh inning and could not capitalize again.
- SU would win this game by a final score of 7-3.

Alek Wietryzkowski saw the start on the bump for the Blue Devils pitching 4.0 innings giving up eight hits and six runs (all earned). Wietryzkowski struck out one. A trio of relief pitchers came on after four innings to try and shut down Southeastern's offense. Dominic Puccetti struck out four batters giving up one hit and one run. Jacob Llaneza struck out three batters.
Game 2 - How It Happened: LTU, 2, LSU 3
- Trent Reed led off the scoring after a bomb over the center-field fence in the top of the second inning to take the lead 1-0.
- After a Jackson Walkowiak walk and a wild pitch advancing him to second base, Reed came up big again with an RBI double to left field to extend the lead to 2-0.
- In the bottom half of the fourth inning, LSU rounded out two runs of their own.
- The Pilots scored off a single to left field, an error by the third baseman, and a double to left to tie things up at two.
- LTU went down 1-2-3 in the top of the fifth and left one man on base in the sixth.
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, LSU hit a walk-off double to left field to win this game 3-2.

Jeremy Flattery got the start for the Blue Devils throwing 3.1 innings giving up two runs (1 earned). Flattery struck out two batters. Puccetti threw 3.0 innings on seven strikeouts only allowing one earned run.
