Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich - The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball team was on the road Monday night against Cornerstone University. The Blue Devils were down two of their leading scorers but found a way to stay tied at the break. LTU struggled to shoot the ball in the second half and would go down on the road to CU by a final score of 87-73
Andrew Rinn led LTU in scoring with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Alek Ivanovic added 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Isaiah Cumberland and Carter Frantz both pitched in 11. Cornerstone's Christian Rodriquez led all scorers with 34 points.
Rinn opened up the scoring for the Blue Devils off a made layup.
Cumberland's three-ball at the 16:58 mark made it 9-6.
Cornerstone went on a 7-0 run minutes later to take the lead 18-11 midway through the first half.
After three consecutive triples from Frantz, Cumberland, and Ivanovic, LTU would regain the lead 22-21 with 9:23 left in the first.
Drew Knickerbocker tied things up at 25 after his turnaround layup.
Minutes later, the team would make their next six buckets all from deep. Lund started the hot streak, Ivanovic would knock down two triples and Rinn put one through the net as well.
LTU was up 40-29 with 3:38 remaining.
The Golden Eagles would end the half on a 13-2 run to head into the locker room tied up at 42 apiece.
The team shot the ball 15-of-31 (48.4%) from the field, 9-of-21 (42.9%) from three, and 3-of-6 (50.0%) from the charity stripe.
Putting LTU up three on the first possession of the second half was Ivanovic after an open three.
At the 16:12 mark, Sanna Sisawo hit another Blue Devils deep ball that led to a timeout.
After the timeout, Cornerstone would find themselves up 14 after a Knickerbocker jump shot, 66-52.
With just over 12 minutes left in the game, LTU tried to fight back after Rinn's pull-up jumper made it 77-60.
LTU would go cold from the field only converting three baskets in the next five minutes.
Ivanovic's triple cut the deficit to 79-66 with five minutes to go.
CU made a handful of freebies down the stretch as LTU was forced to foul.
The final score in this game was 87-73.
The team shot the ball 26-of-60 (43.3%) from the field, 14-of-33 (42.4%) from three, and 7-of-14 (50.0%) from the line.
