Southfield, Mich - The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball team hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday night in what turned out to be a three-overtime thriller. LTU fought until the final buzzer down one of their second-leading scorers, but could not capitalize on the final possessions of the game to go down against UMD by a final score of 103-99.

LTU had three players with 20+ points. Brandon Beavers led the way for the Blue Devils with 27 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Andrew Rinn scored 23 points with eight boards. Alek Ivanovic added 21 points grabbing four rebounds and Sanna Sisawo came off the bench to pitch in 15 points.

Rinn's three got things started for LTU.

UMD took the lead 11-6 just four minutes into the game after an Elwood Tomlinson three-point basket to start a 7-0 run.

At the 11:42 mark, Sisawo's driving layup cut the lead back to two.

The Wolverines would go up 10 after knocking down consecutive baskets in the next three minutes. The score was 29-19.

The Blue Devils could not convert on multiple possessions, only making two baskets in the next five minutes of play.

Isaiah Cumberland's pull-up jumper and Ivanovic's triple cut the deficit to 32-26 with 3:58 to play.

With 2:14 left in the first half, a driving Beavers found Cumberland slashing to the basket for an open dunk.

LTU would go into the locker room down 36-31.

The team shot the ball 13-of-30 (43.3%) from the field and 4-of-15 (26.7%) from deep.

LTU jumped on a 6-2 run to start the second half.

Just five minutes into the second half, Beavers would bring the game back to two after his freebies.

A three-ball at the 12-minute mark by Beavers made it 47-44 that led to a timeout.

Carter Frantz gave the Blue Devils their first lead of the game since two minutes into the first half after this made layup. LTU was up 52-49 with 9:36 left.

A huge three-pointer from Rinn made it 59-55.

Jason Gigliotti's made basket for UMD made it 60-58.

With 2:41 to go, Rinn found a lane, grabbed his own miss capitalizing on his put back to give his team a 64-60 lead.

On the final possession in regulation, Rinn came through in the clutch to knock down a contested layup to send the game to overtime.

UMD would go up three in the opening minutes of the first overtime.

A three and two huge free throws by Beavers put LTU up one.

On the final possession of the first overtime, Beavers found an open Ivanovic to send the game to the second overtime tied at 77.

Both teams would open up the second overtime with back-to-back three balls.

LTU took the lead 87-82 after another Ivanovic deep ball.

The Blue Devils would find their biggest lead in 2OT after Sisawo's three and a Rinn free throw. LTU was up 91-82 with one minute to go.

UMD would fight back in the closing minutes to tie the game up at 93 after the buzzer.

In the 3OT, Ivanovic was left open once again on the perimeter to nail another big-time shot.

With 43 seconds left, the Wolverines regained the lead 99-98 after a Jimmy Breaux layup.

They would hold onto the lead in a 3OT thriller to take down the Blue Devils by a final score of 103-99.

The team shot the ball 32-of-71 (45.1%) from the field, 13-of-40 (32.5%) from deep, and 22-of-38 (57.9%) from the line.

The next Blue Devils matchup will be on Saturday, February 19th when they host Indiana Tech for senior day at 1 pm.
