Box Score Adrian, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men's volleyball team dropped a tightly contested first set to Siena Heights University, who received votes in the latest NAIA Men's Volleyball Coaches' Top 15 Poll, before falling in straight sets (24-26, 19-25, 21-25) on Friday night.
First Set:
- Jeffry Fuhrmann kill gives LTU a slim 9-8 advantage
- A setter kill from Simon Phillip held the one-point lead for LTU at 14-13
- With LTU up 20-19, a Saints' kill followed by a pair of Blue Devils' attack errors put SHU ahead 22-20
- Back-to-back kills by JT McCarthy and Felix Perez knots set at 22-22
- LTU staves off match point because of SHU attack error as set reties at 24-24
- A Blue Devils' service error followed by a Saints' kill ends the set 26-24 for SHU
Second Set:
- Zach Narkiewicz finish ties set at 5-5 early on
- 10-3 Saints' run opens up an eight-point gap at 15-8
- SHU attack error helps LTU cut deficit to two at 16-14
- Saints respond with four straight points before McCarthy halts momentum, 22-17 SHU
- LTU survives one match point at 24-19 before SHU kill closes out the second set at 25-19
Third Set:
- Saints sprint out to a 10-2 lead in the third set
- Phillip finds Perez to trim the margin to five at 16-11
- SHU pushes margin to seven, 21-14, but McCarthy makes it a three-point set at 23-20
- Saints' service ace keeps Blue Devils alive at 24-20 before ending the match with a kill, 25-21
