Box Score Livonia, Mich - The Lawrence Technological University men's basketball team was on the road Saturday afternoon when they played against Madonna University. The shooting struggles started off early in the first half for LTU and the team could not get anything going in the second half. LTU went down by a final score of 79-57.
Leading the way for the Blue Devils were Andrew Rinn and Gunnar Gustafson with 11 points each. Isaiah Cumberland, Carter Frantz, and Alek Ivanovic all added nine points.
Mark Mettie started the game off with a three-ball for the Crusaders.
Madonna would start this game off on a 13-4 run in the opening seven minutes of play.
Cumberland's triple cut the lead to four.
The Blue Devils could not capitalize on the offensive end for the next four minutes.
At the 7:52 mark, Frantz's three-pointer made it 23-12.
Ivanovic knocked down a wing three-ball to cut the deficit to 10 points minutes later.
In the last seven minutes of the first half, LTU did not convert another field goal, going into the half down 39-17.
The team shot the ball 6-of-33 (18.2%) from the field, 3-of-18 (16.7%) from deep, and 2-of-4 (50.0%) from the line.
Gustafson would get things going for the Blue Devils after his two made layups to start the second half.
Ivanovic's three-pointer, two free throws, and a Rinn bucket started an 8-0 run for LTU to cut the lead to 51-36.
Madonna would extend the lead back to 22 points minutes later after a Mettie layup.
With 5:54 remaining, Blake Lund found an open Frantz to nail a three making it 68-44.
Minutes later, Lund got his hand on a ball that led to a fast-break layup by Cumberland. LTU was down 74-51.
On the next possession, Lund hit a three-ball to bring the team back within 20 points.
The Crusaders would run out the clock in the last final minutes of this game to take down the Blue Devils by a final score of 79-57.
The team shot the ball 22-of-70 (31.4%) from the field, 9-of-37 (24.3%) from three, and 4-of-8 (50.0%) from the line.
