Blue Devils Finish Racer Classic Undefeated

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Elida, Ohio - The Lawrence Technological University women's volleyball team won both games in day one of the Racer Classic against Goshen College and Huntington University. LTU beat Goshen by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-22. The Blue Devils beat Huntington by scores of 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16.

Game One:

Set One:
  • Blue Devils jumped out to an early 6-2 lead
  • Lindsay Hubler attack error brought the Maple Leafs within one (8-7)
  • LTU took the 6-of-7 to take a 14-8 lead
  • A kill by Riley O'Connell gave LTU a 20-10 lead
  • LTU won set one 25-17
Set Two:
  • LTU was up 5-2 to start
  • The Blue Devils scored 8-of-12 points to lead 13-6
  • Goshen took two points to be within three points (20-17)
  • Blue Devils took the final five points of the set, including kills from Madeline Hudson and Charley Klint.
  • LTU took set two 25-17
Set Three:
  • An Abby Zambeck kill tied the game at 11
  • Goshen took 4-of-5 to take a 18-15 lead
  • The Blue Devils scored the next five to steal the lead back (20-18)
  • LTU took 5-of-7 late to take the third and final set 25-22 
LTU wins 3-0
Game Two:

Set One:
  • Huntington took an early 10-3 lead
  • The Blue Devils scored 6-of-8 to make it a game once again (9-12)
  • Back-to-back Hubler kills tied the game at 18 apiece
  • An attack errors by LTU gave HU the 23-22 lead late
  • Blue Devils take the final three points to take the set
  • LTU won set one 25-23
Set Two:
  • An O'Connell kill gave the Blue Devils an early 12-4 advantage
  • LTU took 7-of-8 to jup out to a commanding 19-5 lead
  • A kill by Klint ended set two, 25-13 LTU
Set Three:
  • Huntington jets out to a 7-2 lead
  • Lawrence Tech takes 6-of-8 to bring within one (8-9)
  • A kill by Klint and a Hubler ace put LTU up 22-20
  • HU ended the set taking 5-of-6, to take the third set 25-23
Set Four:
  • Hubler made it 14-4 after her kill
  • The Blue Devils took 6-of-10, to expand the lead to 20-8
  • HU takes 8-of-12 to bring within eight (16-24)
  • A kill by Klint ended set four, 25-16

The next Blue Devils match is on Wednesday, September 7th when they open WHAC play against (RV) Cornerstone at 7 PM.
