SOUTHFIELD, MICH. - The Lawrence Technological Blue Devils women's volleyball team hosted Cornerstone University in a Wednesday WHAC clash. The Blue Devils took the first two sets before Cornerstone forced a fifth set. Lawrence Tech would come away victorious 25-20, 25-23, 12-25, 20-25, 15-8.

Following a slow start for the Blue Devils, Anna Khrapova, freshly called up from JV, helped the Blue Devils a lift earning six-straight points, including 4 service aces. LTU led 13-11 in the first set after this spark.
In set 2, Cornerstone jumped out to a 10-6 lead before the Blue Devils scored 12-of-14 points to jump out to a 18-12 lead. Cornerstone would storm back taking 10 of-the-next-13 to take a 22-21 lead before LTU snagged 4-of-5 including the final three points to secure the set.
A 7-2 Golden Eagle start led to an early Lawrence Tech timeout in set 3. From there, it felt as is Cornerstone would score two of every three points before the Blue Devils exhausted their second timeout of the set at 15-7. Cornerstone took 10-of-15 to close out the third set handily.
The 4th set was when the competition really started to heat up. Neither team led by more than 4 points until Cornerstone took an 18-13 lead. Two LTU kills sandwiched the three straight points for Cornerstone to give them a 21-15. CU would go on to win this set 25-20
Riley O'Connell took over in the fifth set, accounting for 7 kills in the set alone, along with a block assist; all of these coming in th Blue Devils first 12 point of the set. Lindsay Hubler would finish the job, earning the final two kills for LTU.
O'Connell led all players in kills (21) and points (22.0); Emmalee Murphy led Cornerstone with 17 and 20.0, respectively.Â
Juliana Bollini set the standard with 31 digs
Abby Zambeck paced the Blue Devils with 31 assists
Khrapova and Bollini had 4 service aces apiece for LTU. Alli Pickard led the way with 5 for Cornerstone
The Blue Devils (7-8,5-6) return to action on Friday night, facing Concordia-Ann Arbor at Don Ridler Field House at 7 pm.
