FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.— Zachary Rais scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and Mitchell Sehlmeyer later added an insurance tally as Lawrence Tech downed visiting Northwood, 3-1, in Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference East Division men's hockey action at Farmington Hills Ice Arena on Friday evening. The Timberwolves fall to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the MCHC East, while the Blue Devils up their record to 6-3-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the conference.

Connor Juhasz staked LTU to a 1-0 advantage with his goal coming with 6 minutes and 3 seconds remaining in the first period. Sawyer Walker and Benjamin De Haas were credited with assists on the play.

Jerome Sciturro scored Northwood's lone goal with 8:12 left in the second period to knot the score 1-1.

Griffin Foster made 17 saves in the LTU win, while his netminding counterpart Aiden McGraw stopped 37 of 40 shots.

With the Blue Devils on the power play in the final stanza, Rais put the home team ahead for good on assists from Cole Goble and Tommy Walsh with 11:57 to go. Sehlmeyer found the back of the net 5:02 later on a feed from Nicklas Oda.

Lawrence Tech and Northwood play again at 3 p.m. Saturday at Midland Civic Arena.
