Complete 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams PDF / DOC
GREENWOOD, Ind.--Six Lawrence Tech women's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators NAIA Academic All-District® Team. That means
Abigail Gray (Saline High School),
Dahlia Jerovsek (Grand Haven High School),
Courtney Matheson (Markham, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary School),
Maliea May (Ajax [Ontario] High School),
Gabi Nelson (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West High School) and
Neala Wilson (Grand Haven High School) all advance to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America® consideration. The Blue Devils tied Cornerstone University for the most honorees in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Gray, a sophomore midfielder and architecture major, is a two-time All-WHAC performer including second team status this fall. She totaled four goals and four assists for 12 points this season for second on the team in scoring.
A fifth-year senior majoring in biomedical engineering, Jerovsek is a 2020 Daktronics NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete, 2019 All-WHAC Second Team performer, 2021 and '22 Academic All-WHAC qualifier and 2022 NAIA Champions of Character recipient.
Matheson, a fifth-year senior defender who majors in mechanical engineering, is a repeat CSC Academic All-District® First Team choice, four-time Daktronics NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete, three-time All-WHAC honoree including to the first unit in 2020, and 2021 and '22 Academic All-WHAC selection.
May is a junior psychology major. The forward was second on the team in goal-scoring with six markers. Those six goals and 12 points were also career highs as she was second in the former and tied for second in the latter.
A sophomore engineering technology management major, Nelson had one of the greatest seasons turned in by a LTU goalkeeper. She registered 11 combined shutouts for a school record and had NAIA statistical rankings of 11th in save percentage (.874), 31st in victories (8), 40th for the fewest goals allowed (11). In addition, she posted a LTU-record scoreless streak of 445 minutes and 36 seconds over the span of seven games. She earned the final NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week award (11/7/23) after she helped the Blue Devils to their first-ever WHAC conference championship game by posting 21 saves and two shutouts in their first two tournament games, including a career-high 14 saves in the semifinals against Siena Heights.
Wilson is a junior majoring in nursing and a 2022 CSC Academic All-District® First Team selection. The defender was the team recipient of the 2023 WHAC Champions of Character award and was a 2022 Daktronics NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete.
Additionally, all six student-athletes are Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and Academic All-WHAC for this season.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® women's soccer honorees will be announced on Dec. 20. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
