Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind.--The Lawrence Tech women's basketball team gave Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference frontrunner Indiana Tech quite the scare for 27 minutes before the host Warriors outscored the Blue Devils 48-25 in the second half en route to a 78-53 victory at the Schaefer Center on Wednesday evening. Lawrence Tech drops to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the WHAC, while the Warriors--who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll--improve to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in the conference.
Lawrence Tech Highlights
- Senior Jade Faris led LTU with 17 points on 7-for-12 field goal shooting. She also had five rebounds.
- Sophomore Kate Jacobs grabbed seven rebounds to lead the team and she scored eight points to go along with two blocked shots.
Indiana Tech Highlights
- Reigning WHAC Player of the Week Erika Foy recorded a double-double with game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds. She went over the 1,000 rebounds mark for her career.
- Bethany Worm added 17 points, followed by Genevieve Decker with 13 and Juliana Burris had 11.
How it Happened
- Indiana Tech led 30-28 at the halftime break after junior Maggie Long (3 points) made a layup as time expired to bring LTU within two points.
- After Faris opened the second half with a layup to tie it 30-30, Indiana Tech went on an 11-3 run to take a 41-33 lead with 4 minutes and 11 seconds left in the third quarter to take control.
- Indiana Tech extended its lead to 52-39 to close the third as LTU wasn't able to get the deficit under 10 points for the final 13 minutes of the contest.
- Lawrence Tech made 21 of 49 field goal attempts for a .429 percentage while Indiana Tech made 52.7 percent of its shots (29-55).
- The Warriors also held key advantages in points in the paint (32-18), rebounds (36-24) and bench points (26-16).
- The teams were tied 16-16 after the opening quarter and LTU built its largest lead of six points, 32-26, with 5:11 left in the second on treys from senior Dominique Evans (9 points) and fifth-year senior Julia Huey (8 points). That would also be the Blue Devils' last lead of the game.
