Box Score SOUTHFIELD--CJ Davidson ran for 108 yards and Jalen Wallace led all receivers with nine catches and 92 yards, but it wasn't enough as visiting St. Francis (Illinois) edged host Lawrence Tech, 14-12, in a Mid-States Football Association crossover match-up at Blue Devils Stadium on Saturday. The Saints improve to 3-0 after their first road game of 2023, while LTU slips to 1-2 overall. (This afternoon was a non-conference game.)

How it Happened
  • Lawrence Tech jumped on the scoreboard first with a 38-yard field goal by Vincent Robison with 7 minutes and 39 seconds left in the first quarter
  • However, USF moved ahead 6-3 on the ensuing possession when quarterback Carl Bew scampered for a 65-yard touchdown run just 94 seconds later
  • Another Robison field goal, this time from 25 yards out, closed the gap to 7-6 at the 9:49 mark of the second quarter
  • After a very short punt that gave USF the ball at the 50-yard line, Scott Tumilty scored on a 1-yard TD plunge to make it 14-6 with just over a minute remaining until halftime.
  • Jaden Rembert caught a 9-yard TD pass from Alex Osman for the only score of the second half at the 8:44 mark of the fourth quarter, but the two-point conversion failed to leave the score 14-12 in favor of USF
  • LTU had the last possession of the game but Jalen Cooper created a turnover with the interception that gave USF the ball at the home 41-yard line and the Saints ran out the last 1:42 in game clock to preserve the win.
  • LTU outgained USF in total yards (349-317), passing yards (228-102) and takeaways (plus-1), but the Saints had the edge in possession time
