Jade Faris registered a double-double with game highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds, and junior
Maggie Long added 21 points, as the Lawrence Tech women's basketball team used a solid defense to defeat visiting Cornerstone, 75-67, in Wolverine–Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at the Don Ridler Field House.
The Blue Devils up their record to 8-10 on the season, including a 6-6 mark in the WHAC, while the Golden Eagles drop to 9-7 overall and 7-4 in the conference.
Lawrence Tech Highlights
- Faris was sharp from the field connecting on 10 of her 12 attempts to set a career high for points and she had three assists before fouling out with 2 minutes and 25 seconds remaining.
- Freshman DeDe Smith chipped in 10 points.
- Senior Addie Nagel (6 points) and Faris led LTU with three assists each.
- Long added seven rebounds to tie her career high while she drained five treys.
Cornerstone Highlights
- Olivia Kubik had 17 points and six rebounds while Jaylee Long had 11 points and five rebounds.
- Stephanie Ainsworth recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to go along with two blocked shots and three steals.
- Jaxi Long (5 points) passed for four assists.
How it Happened
- Lawrence Tech took a 17-15 lead after 10 minutes of play in a back-and-forth frame that included five ties and four lead changes.
- The Blue Devils, who never trailed after the first quarter, led by as many as 14 points in the fourth.
- With 9 minutes and 26 seconds left in the game, LTU turned a five-point lead into a 71-57 one over a 4:36 span with the 13-4 run.
- Faris scored six points and Long had five during that decisive moment.
- The Golden Eagles made things interesting by cutting the deficit to seven, 71-64, at the1:26 mark, but the LTU defense induced four missed shots and a turnover to keep Cornerstone at bay.

- The all-time series is now even with both teams winning 12 games. LTU is 6-7 at home versus Cornerstone.
- Lawrence Tech has allowed just one opponent--Indiana Tech on Nov. 29 (.527)--to shoot 50 percent or better from the field this season.
