Men's Basketball Throttles Host Michigan-Dearborn, 88-51

Box Score DEARBORN, Mich.--Visiting Lawrence Tech used a suffocating defense and led buzzer-to-buzzer to rout Michigan-Dearborn, 88-51, in Wolverine–Hoosier Athletic Conference men's basketball action at the UM-Dearborn Wolverines Field House on Wednesday evening. With its fourth win in a row, Lawrence Tech improves to 12-7 overall and 9-5 in the WHAC. The Wolverines fall to 3-16 on the season, including a 1-12 conference worksheet.

  • Junior Cameron McEvans scored a game-high 21 points off the bench.
  • Senior Brandon Beavers added 18 points and eight rebounds.
  • Senior Nathaniel Ward (8 points) led all student-athletes with five assists and three steals.
  • Classmate Alejandro Gonzalez notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Junior Ioannis Giannoultsis pulled down 10 rebounds--a game-high tie with his teammate Gonzales.
UM-Dearborn Highlights
  • Jackson Reynolds led the team with 16 points and three assists.
  • Yassin Mohamed added 10 points and six rebounds, while Thomas Dillard IV (4 points) led the squad with seven rebounds.
How it Happened 
  • Lawrence Tech limited the Wolverines to just 26.2 percent from the field (17-65) and outscored them 22-10 on 15 UofM turnovers.
  • The Blue Devils jumped out to a 43-24 halftime lead and built its biggest of 40 points in the second half.
  • Lawrence Tech also dominated the glass outrebounding UMD 54-35, generating 19 second-chance points to 4 for the home team.
  • The visitors also used their size to outscore UMD in the paint (32-16) and their depth for bench scoring (39-8).
Beyond the Boxscore
  • Michigan-Dearborn leads the all-time series 13-9, but LTU has its longest current win streak--4 games--against this opponent that includes a regular-season sweep. The Blue Devils are now 4-7 at UMD.
  • The 37-point margin of victory is LTU's largest on the road this season.
  • McEvans has scored 54 points in his last two games to up his season scoring average to 12.9, which is second on the team.
