GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In a challenging conference soccer game held at CU Soccer Field on October 16, 2024, the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils were unable to secure a victory against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles, resulting in a 0-3 defeat.
The game kicked off with the Blue Devils showing determination, but Cornerstone's Gracie Gortmaker quickly dominated the field. Gortmaker scored the game's first goal at the 21:56 mark, assisted by Alaina Kregel. Her momentum didn't stop there; she added a second goal just minutes later at 28:06 with an assist from Tori Woodwyk. Despite their efforts, the Blue Devils entered halftime trailing 0-2.
Throughout the second half, Lawrence Tech continued to battle, but Cornerstone sealed their victory with a third goal by Tori Woodwyk, assisted by Gortmaker, just seconds before the final whistle at 89:55.Â
Recognition was widespread among the Golden Eagles. Gortmaker's outstanding performance earned her accolades for scoring two goals and providing an assist.
