DETROIT, MICH. — The Lawrence Technological University men's tennis team traveled to face #8 Wayne State. The Blue Devils opened their spring season with this matchup.
In doubles:
Louam Boivin/
Redwane Bouhajda dropped the top-flight match to L. Drenth/D. Grey 6-1.
Evan Morgan/
Juan Jose Escriba Pastor fell to Luke Laws/D. Spicer 6-2 to secure the doubles point for the Warriors.
B. Hill/J. Steele defeated
Antoine Haurez/
Takuya King to secure the doubles sweep for Wayne State.
In singles:
3-seeded Spicer handled King 6-2, 6-1 for the second Warrior point.
2-seeded Drunth dispatched Boivin 6-4, 6-2.
4-seeded Haurez battled against D. Kitiyama, but ultimately was defeated in straight 6-4 sets, clinching victory for WSU.
In the top flight, Morgan took Grey to a first set tiebreaker, but also lost in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-0.
E. Mickelson made quick work of Escriba Pastor in the 6-singles match, taking the sets 6-2, 6-1.
Hill was victorious against Bouhajda in 5-singles 6-2, 6-3.
The Warriors went on to win 7-0, handing the Blue Devils their first loss of their spring season.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday when they take on Lake Superior State at Franklin Athletic Club at 4pm.
