Complete All-MCHC East Teams
HOLLAND, Mich.--Lawrence Tech, the 2023-24 regular-season champion in the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference East Division, landed a conference-tying four All-MCHC East all-star selections, it was announced this week.
Senior forward
Connor Juhasz (Enfield [Conn.] High School) and sophomore goalie Owen Pryzbylo (Royal Oak, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit Academy) headline the LTU quartet as both earned first-team all-conference accolades. Juhasz recorded career highs of 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 total points, ranking first for the Blue Devils in goals and points as well as fourth and tied for ninth, respectively, in the conference. He has 83 points in his 84-game career. Pryzbylo fashioned an 8-1-1 record with conference bests of a 1.24 goals-against average, .946 save percentage and three shutouts. His eighth wins are fifth-best in the MCHC-East. As a freshman, he went 2-0 with a 2.25 GAA.
Making the All-MCHC East Second Team were forward teammates Ben DeHaas (Okotoks, Alberta/Foothills Composite HS), a sophomore, and
Will Jentz (Brighton High School), a freshman. DeHaas tied Juhasz for the team lead with 30 points on 16 goals and 14 assists--exceeding his freshman scoring totals of 9+12=21. Jentz burst onto the collegiate scene with 19 assists, which led LTU and ranked sixth in the conference. He also had 10 goals among 29 points, which was good for 13th.
Runner-up Saginaw Valley State University, which finished four points behind the Blue Devils, tied LTU with four honorees.
Lawrence Tech, which is
nationally-ranked second in Division 3 by the American Collegiate Hockey Association, owns a 22-4-1 overall record and 12-1-1 in the MCHC-East. The Blue Devils get the postseason underway this weekend in the MCHC East Playoffs with a first-round No. 1 versus No. 8 seed matchup tonight (8:45 p.m.) against Adrian College at the Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton. The two-day event is hosted by Michigan-Flint, with the two top teams advancing to the MCHC Vezina Cup on Feb. 23-24 in Grand Rapids.
