SOUTHFIELD, MICH. — The Lawrence Technological University men's tennis team hosted the Forresters from Huntington.
In doubles:
Miriam McCormick/
Angela Anderanin were victorious in the 3-doubles match against Grace Meyer/Coby Sander 6-1.
Taylor Mattingly-Harnden/
Rafaela Tedesco secured the doubles point for the Blue Devils, taking the 2-doubles match from Isabella Herrera/Nina Golfier 6-4.
Esther Bolon/Courtney Rich avoided the sweep of Huntington's doubles, defeating
Jacqueline Alcocer/
Paola Herrera Rivera, 6-4.
In singles:
2-seeded Herrera conquered Alcocer 6-1, 6-3.
HU 1, LTU 1.
3-singles saw Rich outlast Tedesco 6-4, 2-6 11-9.
HU 2, LTU 1.
In the top flight, Herrera Rivera conquered Bolon 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.
HU 2, LTU 2.
The Sander/McCormick 4-singles matchup went to three sets, with McCormick taking this battle, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.
LTU 3, HU 2.
Mattingly-Harnden topped Golfier in 5-singles, 6-3, 6-4.
LTU 4, HU 2.
#6 singles match between Anderanin and Meyer would end prematurely with Meyer leading 7-5, 3-2, as LTU had already secured the victory.
LTU 4, HU 3.
Coach Mertz on the match: "The girls got their first win of the season today and it's a big weight off of our shoulders. They worked hard and deserve it. Huntington is a very evenly matched team to us so to get the victory is great for our girls."
The Blue Devils continue this week, when they face Bethel University at Franklin Athletic Club on Saturday at 4pm
